Sunday Night Film Club - Episode 1: Spag Bol & Swayze Welcome to the very first episode of Sunday Night Film Club, with me, your host/cook/critic; Duncan! Recipe for Spag Bol below... You can find me at these places: https://www.facebook.com/SundayNightFilmClub https://twitter.com/DuncanRoe Spaghetti Bolognese (for 2) You'll need: 1 garlic clove 1 red onion 1 courgette (medium size) A handful of mushrooms Tin of tomatoes or freshly chopped tomatoes (around 7) Spaghetti Olive oil Butter Quorn or beef Red Wine (v important) Oregano Wash the Courgette and mushrooms first. Then slice the garlic up real thin like. Dice the onion. Heat the butter on a high heat in a pan. Fry the garlic until golden but NOT brown (around 30 seconds). Then chuck in the chopped onion, do some fancy pan dancin' so it makes that sizzlin' noise. Then leave on medium heat - while... you dice the courgette. Chop the mushys into quarters, or slices, or whatever you want... just not too small coz they shrink in the heat! Stick them both in. Heap on a teaspoon of oregano and mix it up. Add the quorn or beef - if you're a murderer... I'm just kidding. :| but seriously cows love their kids too. Then let it simmer for around 5 mins... while you're waiting you could wash up what you've used already. I hate mess. Then crack open the tomatoes and pour them over. Open the red wine - have a glass if you must... it's pretty essential... unless you're under 18 or 21 in the US... then just have a coconut water - shut up and drink it. It's good for you. Stir it up... little darlin'. Sorry coudln't resist. But seriously stir it up til it's all mixed together. Now you wanna boil some water in a pan. While you're waiting maybe grab some salad and give it a wash? Then grab a load of pasta - see video for 'measurement'. Twist and drop it into the pan. Set timer for 10 mins. Test out the bolognese - go on give it a try. Good? Depending on what tomatoes you used it might be slightly acidic - so either grab some brown sugar (a tea spoon or two) or Heinz Ketchup - the only ketchup worth it... and add a little. It's my secret ingredient - shh don't tell. Ok so the timer's just gone. Drain off the water and sprinkle some olive oil over the spaghetti - it's good for your skin and keeps the pasta from sticking. Dump it on two plates or one if you're super hungry! Then chuck on the bolognese! Hey presto dinner is ready. The whole thing should take around 25mins. If it's tasty it's because of my awesome instructions - if it's not it's because you're a bad chef! |
